The platform "Documenting the Targeting and Destruction of the Health Sector in the Gaza Strip" presents accurate and detailed information about the Israeli assault on health during the genocidal war. This includes data on the attacks on healthcare facilities and health workers who have been killed, abducted, tortured, and maimed by Israeli forces during the genocide, and relevant statements by international organizations and healthcare institutions. These are complemented by original analysis by researchers and authors covering a range of issues in the targeting of the health sector, through which Israeli occupation forces have created a "war biosphere". Read more

Israel is besieging Gaza’s wounded and sick to death, preventing their ability to travel for treatment

Palestinian Territory - The international community must effectively pressure Israel to open the border crossings and allow sick and injured people to leave the Gaza Strip for treatment. Thousands of sick and injured people face certain death as they are unable to receive treatment in the Strip amid the destruction or travel elsewhere, due to Israel’s systematic targeting of the region’s health sector—which has rendered most of its components inoperable—and the strict Israeli siege.

MAP response to deadly strike on Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza

In response to the deadly strike on Al Ahli Hospital in Gaza in which more than 470 people have been reportedly killed, Melanie Ward, Chief Executive of Medical Aid for Palestinians said:

"The horrifying scenes from Al Ahli demonstrate that healthcare will not be safe until there is a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza. The international community must urgently demand that healthcare be protected, so that that medical workers be able to care for people without fear of coming under attack.

Gaza aid delivery deal “does not even scratch the surface”

In response to reports that 20 trucks carrying aid supplies may be allowed into Gaza soon, Melanie Ward, Chief Executive of Medical Aid for Palestinians said:

IRC and MAP additional statement on airstrike on residential compound housing Emergency Medical Team

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP) and International Rescue Committee (IRC) have previously shared details of the near-fatal airstrike on 18 January 2024 by the Israeli military on a residential compound housing our Emergency Medical Team (EMT) and members of MAP’s local team and their family members. The airstrike was in Al Mawasi – the alleged ‘safe zone’ – in Gaza.
