Description (About the Facility)

Description:

Al Hayat Specialized Hospital, located on Lababidi Street in Gaza City, is a private hospital that first opened in 2010 with a capacity of 72 beds. Al Hayat treats cancer patients referred to the hospital by the Palestinian Ministry of Health, that before the Covid-19 outbreak would have been treated at the Augusta Victoria Hospital in East Jerusalem. The hospital consists of six floors, each with an area of 1,000 square meters[1][2].

- Catheterization and Vascular Department (includes cardiac catheterization unit and vascular unit)[3]

- Oncology Department (includes two inpatient clinics , inpatient pharmacy , chemotherapy laboratory, day care unit, and overnight unit)[3].

- Surgical operations department (including 3 operating rooms for general, orthopedic and laparoscopic surgery, in addition to the intensive care unit)[3].

Development:

In 2015: An in-house laboratory and a new operation room in the cardiac catheterization department were inaugurated at Al Hayat Specialized Hospital[5].

In 2020: The hospital opened a magnetic resonance department and began offering chemotherapy to cancer patients[6].

Effect of siege (2007 - 2023)

Under contract with the Ministry of Health, Al Hayat Specialized Hospital treats patients from the Department of Treatment Abroad, allowing the hospital to alleviate the suffering of Gazan patients who have difficulty accessing treatment outside the Gaza Strip[2].
