In 2013: The Ministry of Health opened the Cornea Clinic at the Gaza Eye Hospital[3]. 

In 2022: The Ministry of Health launched a cornea transplant project at the hospital, and within four months, 62 transplants were completed. 

In 2010: A team from the Medical Aid Society for Palestinians identified a series of training needs at the hospital, including ultrasound, fluorescein angiography, electrodiagnostic, and surgical skills. In addition, according to the team's report, the hospital could benefit from training in a systematic approach to quality control and infection control[5].

In 2019: The central air conditioning broke down, coinciding with the end of the referral of cases to community health hospitals through UNRWA. Once the referral program ended, the hospital started looking for alternatives to ensure continuity of service, so the ministry opened an emergency operating room at Al-Shifa Hospital until maintenance was completed, to perform internal eye operations such as cataracts and glaucoma. The operating room was equipped with medical staff and equipment from the Gaza Eye Hospital and began operating in November 2019. The surgical team went to great lengths to complete operations at Al-Shifa, preparing and examining patients at the Gaza Eye Hospital on an almost daily basis, and then heading to the operating room at al-Shifa[4].
