Member in the legislative council and a previous director general in the ministry of health. He worked as a generalist in Nasser hospital in Khan Yunis. Served as head of the hematology and oncology department at al-Shifa hospital until 1993, laboratory director for the Gaza Strip 1986-1991, director of Nasser hospital 1991-1993, director general for health 1993-1994, and director of the national center for cancer surveillance. Among his social engagements, he served as president of the friends of the Gaza European Hospital, vice-president of the Palestinian oncology association, board member for the Palestinian hypertention society. Academic engagements: he conducted several medical research projects, which were published in international medical journals, among them: pediatric hematological malignancy treatment, genetic mutations for thalassemia in the Gaza Strip, chronic infections and anti-microbial resistance, and a study on the epidemiology of hepatitis C in the Gaza Strip.
