The Algerian Military Hospital was established in 1994 in the old Abasan area of Khan Younis, following the establishment of the Palestinian Authority. At the time it was known as Al-Karama Military Hospital. It was reinaugurated as the Algerian Military Hospital prior to the 2014 Israeli aggression at an estimated cost of 150,000 dollars mainly donated by the Ulema Society in Algeria. The development of the hospital represented a qualitative leap for the health services provided in Khan Younis governorate, where the hospital provided its services to about 70,000 people from the eastern areas of the governorate[1][2].
The hospital is administered by the General Directorate of Military Medical Services at the Ministry of Interior and National Security in Gaza. The hospital now serves the entire Khan Younis governorate, which includes four towns and provides services to both military personnel and civilians[3].
In 2021: The Algerian Military Hospital began expanding the pediatric department by adding 8 new beds to the nursery, as well as rehabilitating the dental department and providing it with the necessary medical equipment and tools. Later that year, new sections of the hospital were renovated and opened[3][4].
