About the Platform

The platform "Documenting the Targeting and Destruction of the Health Sector in the Gaza Strip" presents accurate and detailed information about the Israeli assault on health during the genocidal war. This includes data on the attacks on healthcare facilities and health workers who have been killed, abducted, tortured, and maimed by Israeli forces during the genocide, and relevant statements by international organizations and healthcare institutions. These are complemented by original analysis by researchers and authors covering a range of issues in the targeting of the health sector, through which Israeli occupation forces have created a "war biosphere". Read more

Invasion of vicinity of Al-Awda Hospital - Nusseirat by Israeli special forces

Israeli special forces, disguised in Palestinian resistance uniforms, surround the vicinity of Al-Awda Hospital - Nusseirat and the adjacent market. The special forces, with air cover, encircle a building near the hospital. The hospital fills rapidly with a large number of martyrs and casualties amid intense aerial and ground fire targeting various areas in the Central Governorate.

The Government Media Office in Gaza announces that the number of martyrs from occupation massacres in Nusseirat Camp reaches 210, with more than 400 injured individuals arriving at Al-Awda Nusseirat and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospitals, including 116 martyrs and 285 wounded at Al-Awda Hospital.

Martyred alongside members of her family

She was martyred alongside her father Professor Ibrahim Hamed al-Astal, dean of the College of Education at the Islamic University – south campus, her sister Dr. Afnan al-Astal, and her mother Nadia Yassin al-Astal as a result of an airstrike on their home in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Israeli warplanes bomb the entrance of Al-Nasr Children's Hospital

Occupation forces reportedly bombed the entrance to the Al-Nasr Children's Hospital, killing two people and wounding many others.

Occupation forces besieged the hospital.

And on November 9, 2023: Ministry of Health spokesperson Dr. Ashraf Al-Qidra announced that occupation forces besieged and attacked the hospital, destroying medical equipment. The Ministry of Health also announced that all medical services at the hospital were suspended, and that the intensive care unit and the nursery only operated with a small generator. Ambulances were unable to reach the hospital to evacuate injuries resulting from the targeting and shelling of the hospital.

Death of premature infants

Occupation forces surrounded the hospital with tanks and forced the medical staff to evacuate the hospital, leaving premature babies in the incubators.

And on November 28, 2023 : The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor reported on the murder of premature babies by occupation soldiers. The bodies of the babies were found decomposing inside of Al-Nasr Hospital after the occupation forced all staff to evacuate the hospital, leaving the babies inside.

Martyred alongside her family

After returning home following several continuous days of work at al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, she was martyred the same day alongside her entire family as a result of a strike on their home in Deir al-Balah in the middle of the Strip.

Dr. Nisreen al-Halabi, Area Health Officer of the UNRWA Health Programme in Gaza, remarked "Dr. Amal was one of our best doctors – full of energy and vitality; her soul and passion in dealing with patients and colleagues were outstanding."

She was martyred alongside her sisters, Hanaa and Malak, and her niece Julia as a result of an airstrike on their home in Nuseirat Camp in the middle of the Gaza Strip. Their bodies were recovered the day after the strike, while their father's body remains buried under the rubble.

He was martyred alongside several of his family members after their house was targeted. Muath had spent several consecutive days volunteering in the emergency department in al-Quds Martyrs Hospital in the middle of the Gaza Strip. As soon as he arrived home to rest, his house was targeted with everyone in it.

Martyred in a strike on his sister's home in Khan Yunis

He was martyred as a result of a critical injury in an airstrike on his sister's home in Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip after spending three consecutive days in intensive care. His sister, her three daughters and granddaughter were martyred as a result of the same airstrike.
