Description (About the Facility)

Founded in 1995, the Dar Al Salam Hospital is a non-profit charitable hospital, established to meet the health needs of the southern region of the Gaza Strip, and is affiliated with Al Wafa Charitable Society. The hospital is considered the first specialized hospital in Khan Younis Governorate and consists of seven floors[1].

The hospital runs the Poor Patient Fund to help fund treatment for patients that cannot afford to cover their own hospital bills at the hospital. As part of the program, the hospital provides advanced cases who are unable to pay with the necessary services, such as surgeries, examinations, and medicines.

The hospital also supervises the management of a group of specialized outpatient clinics in which several qualified consultants and specialists work in the fields of general surgery, cardiology, internal medicine, ENT, dental, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, dermatology, orthopedic, prosthetics, ophthalmology, vascular, diabetic foot, and thoracic surgery, audiology, pharmacy, laboratory, and blood bank.

In 2005, the Dar Al Salam Hospital announced the completion of the construction of a second building consisting of five floors covering an area of 750 meters, at a total cost of $500,000 which was funded by several donors. In addition to specialized clinics, the building houses a medical rehabilitation program to rehabilitate the disabled of the Intifada in Khan Younis and Rafah governorates[2].

The hospital also recently opened a maternity department that operates around the clock under the supervision of doctors and midwives.

Effect of siege (2007 - 2023)

The Dar Al Salam Hospital worked at various times throughout the years of the siege to organize free medical days, as well as to provide many medical services at reduced prices in cooperation with several medical and relief organizations.
