A joint United Nations convoy delivered urgently needed food to communities in southern and central Gaza today. A total of 105 trucks successfully completed their journeys along the Philadelphi corridor and adjacent routes - which has provided food for nearly 200,000 people.

With the support of the Israeli Coordination of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) and the local community, the convoy used the Philadelphi corridor to enable critical humanitarian assistance to reach those most in need in southern Gaza. This follows temporary disruptions in aid delivery through the Kerem Shalom/Karem Abu Salem crossing, the main entry point for humanitarian assistance.

The solidarity of the community was instrumental to the success of this mission, as members provided a more secure passage that allowed aid to reach families facing critical food shortages.

The use of the Philadelphi corridor showcased how coordinated efforts can overcome logistical and operational barriers. This alternative route provided a more secure passage so humanitarian supplies can reach families who lack everything after 14 months of war. More essential aid is waiting outside Gaza and we hope to continue using this route to reach as many people as possible with lifesaving supplies, including food, medicine, tents, and hygiene kits.

The United Nations remain committed to supporting the people of Gaza and call for all parties to continue facilitation of safe, unimpeded, and continuous humanitarian access to ensure aid reaches those who need it most.
