In December 2023, Dr. Adnan al-Bursh was abducted and transferred to Israeli prisoners. According to prisoner rights' organizations, he was subjected to severe torture, leading to his death.

He continued: "Al-Bursh was the only doctor who was kept in interrogation as long as he was, which points to that he was being tortured the entire time. He was specifically targeted even among other doctors, since they [the Israeli Army] had threatened him several times – he was wanted specifically/."
