Health Workers

In these pages, we commemorate and honor those who devoted and eventually gave their lives in service of others. During the ongoing genocidal war, over 500 Palestinian health workers have been killed and over 300 have been abducted, each of whom had a distinguished presence and remarkable history.

We relied primarily on the list of martyrs issued regularly by the Palestinian Ministry of Health based on its primary data. This list was corroborated and expanded using the primary data collection conducted and published by "Healthcare Workers Watch", a group of volunteer Palestinian health workers who monitor and publish attacks on health in Palestine. A large part of the personal photographs we use of health workers were also collected and published by Healthcare Workers Watch. For abducted and disappeared health workers, we relied primarily on the lists collected and published by Healthcare Workers Watch, which included the names and professions of these health workers. We gathered further details on health workers' professional history and the circumstances surrounding their targeting from statements and reports by the Ministry of Health and other organizations, as well as news reports, verified social media accounts, and firsthand information from colleagues and relatives of the health workers. Some of these files are still undergoing translation into English.

When the circumstances allow, we will use field research to gather information about victims who we did not find sufficient information about using secondary sources.

Pharmacy doctor Noor I'bayan was martyred alongside his 8-month pregnant wife, pharmacy doctor Haneen al-Bisouni, and their unborn child in a strike on their home which killed several other family members.

Amal was martyred along with her family following the targeting of their home in Rafah, southern Gaza.

Dr. Mohammed Abu Sheeha was martyred along with all members of his family in a massacre targeting the Abu Sheeha family. Their home in the Al-Amoudi area, northern Gaza, was struck, resulting in the death of twenty family members.
Ahmad Raed Youssef Mahdi Medical or dentistry student Student in the fourth level of the Faculty of Medicine at Al-Azhar University. :

The son of the martyr Dr. Raed Mahdi, Dr. Ahmad Raed Mahdi, died along with all members of his family in the massacre of the Mahdi family, committed by the occupation forces through the targeting of Mahdi Specialized Fertility Hospital in Gaza City, northern Gaza Strip.
Abdelrahman Abu Shamaleh Medical or dentistry student Dr. Abdul Rahman Abu Shamala was a final-year medical student at the Islamic University. :

Dr. Abdul Rahman Abu Shammala was martyred alongside his family in a massacre perpetrated by the occupation forces, which targeted their home, leading to the death of twenty members of the Abu Shammala family in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip.
Noor Al-Huda Abdullah Mustafa Al-Ashqar Medical or dentistry student Dr. Nour Al-Ashqar was in her final year at the Faculty of Dentistry at Palestine University. :

Dr. Nour Al-Ashqar was martyred along with her family members in an attack on their home in northern Gaza Strip.
Maysaa Abdel-Aziz Mohammed Thaher Medical or dentistry student Maysaa Thaher was in her final year as a dental student at Palestine University. :

Dr. Maysaa Thaher was martyred along with seven members of her family in the Thaher family massacre in Jabalia Camp after their home was bombed.
Yassin Jihad Mahmud Al-Akhras Medical or dentistry student Dr. Yassin Al-Akhras was a fourth-level student at the Faculty of Medicine, Al-Azhar University. :

Yassin was martyred due to the targeting of his family's home in Rafah, southern Gaza Strip.
Duha Hassan Daghmash Medical or dentistry student She was a student at the Faculty of Medicine, Islamic University - Gaza. :

The occupation committed one of the most horrific and largest massacres against the Daghmash family, targeting several homes of the Daghmash family in the Sabra neighborhood in the northeast of Gaza City. A total of 109 family members, including the aspiring physician Doaa Daghmash, were killed together.
Abdullah Aaed Abu Jayab Medical or dentistry student Student in the first level in the Faculty of Medicine College of Palestine - Al-Azhar University :

Abdullah Abu Jiyab was martyred along with his father, Aed Abu Jiyab, and his brother, engineer Khalil Abu Jiyab, in the Maghazi refugee camp massacre carried out by the occupying forces in the central Gaza Strip.

Ruaa was martyred alongside members of her family as a result of a strike on their vehicle in Beach Camp in the northwestern Gaza Strip.

Motaz Shabet was martyred alongside members of his family in a strike on thier home in Tuffah neighborhood in the east of Gaza City.
Amina Ayman Mahmoud al-Sharafi Medical or dentistry student Second year student at the faculty of medicine in the Islamic University – Gaza :

Amina was martyred alongside her entire family, including her father Ayman, her mother Khitam Diab, and her brother Mohammed, who were all pharmacy doctors, and her brother Mahmoud.
Omar Harbi Naim al-Na'san Medical or dentistry student Dentistry student :

He was martyred alongside his brother Dr. Harbi al-Na'san as a result of a strike on their vehicle.

She was martyred alongside 12 members of her family, including her mother, siblings, grandmother, and cousins.
