Fifth-year resident doctor in the orthopedic department in al-Shifa medical complex, where he worked throughout the genocide war until his martyrdom. He also worked in the specialist clinics in al-Ahli hospital. Dr. Fadel Naim mourned him by writing "Dr. Hammam al-Deeb, who had a smile that southed the heart, never hestitated to help anyone who asked, appreciated his colleagues and teachers, stood tall like the mountains, stood up for justice and did not hestitate to offer all he had in defense of it."

He had been recently appointed to work as an anesthesiologist in a hospital in Dortmund in Germany, where he had been living with his family in recent years. He was also a member of a Palestinian medical collective there. He went to visit his family shortly before the start of the genocide, and was martyred alongside them in a strike on their home.

Gained first place in the Palestinian, Jordanian and Arab Board exams in nephrology. He was the only nephrologist in the Strip, working in al-Aqsa martyrs hospital and al-Shifa medical complex at the same time. Dr. Ra'ed was martyred alongside his entire family following a several-day siege on al-Mahdi materntiy hospital in Gaza City, after the hospital was struck with the doctors and their families inside.

"You and your arabness have failed us" – these were the last words of Dr. Basel Mahdi on a post on his Facebook profile hours before his martyrdom. These words came after pleas for days to evacuate him and his family after they were besieged in al-Mahdi maternity hospital before it was bombed and most people in it were killed, among them Dr. Basel and his entire family.
