He was arrested alongside Dr. Mohammed Abu Silmiyeh at Netzarim checkpoint during the first siege on al-Shifa hospital. Dr. Iyad al-Rantisi was the second doctor that occupation authorities announced the martyrdom of under detention, following Dr. Adnan al-Bursh.
